Drinking Lots of Fluids

Some patients treated with CRIXIVAN developed kidney stones. For some, this leads to more severe kidney problems, including kidney failure, inflammation of the kidneys, or kidney infection, which sometimes spreads to the blood. Drinking at least six 8-ounce glasses of liquid (preferably water) each day should help reduce the chance of forming a kidney stone.

It’s a good idea to take CRIXIVAN with liquids (preferably water). It’s very important to drink fluids all day long — at least 48 ounces per day — to help keep your kidneys clear and working well.

How can I remember to drink 48 ounces of liquid?

48 ounces is 4 12-ounce cans or 3 16-ounce bottles of water. One idea is to fill a 48-ounce pitcher with water. Put this pitcher or 4 12-ounce cans in the fridge each night. The next day, you know what you need to drink for the day.

48 ounces is also about one and one half of those 1-liter bottles (a liter is about 32 ounces) or 3 half-liter bottles. If your water bottle holds about half a liter, another idea is to put 3 rubber bands around it. Each time you refill the bottle, take one off. When all 3 rubber bands are gone, you know you’ve had your 48 ounces for the day.

Hey — no one says you can’t drink MORE! Drinking extra fluids is a great idea.
