It takes strength to face HIV

Keeping Up With Your Doses

With HIV medicines, it’s really important not to miss a dose. Or to stop taking your medicines — such as going on a “drug holiday” — without talking to your healthcare provider. By failing to dose properly, you risk making your HIV medicines not work as well, and that means risking a rise in your viral load.

But sometimes you may just plain forget to take a dose, especially if your schedule suddenly changes. If you miss a dose of CRIXIVAN:

  • By less than two hours: take your missed dose as soon as you realize you forgot it. Then take your next dose at the regular time.
  • By more than two hours: wait and take the next dose at your regular time.
  • DO NOT make up a missed dose by doubling the next dose. It’s important not to take more or less of your CRIXIVAN than prescribed at any one time.

Sometimes you may want to sleep in — the weekends come to mind. Set the alarm to wake you up to take your dose of CRIXIVAN—you can then go back to bed.

In any case, when you miss a dose of CRIXIVAN, try to take it within two hours of your scheduled time.

If you miss a dose of one of your other HIV medicines, check the manufacturer's information about that medicine, or call your healthcare provider.
